James Butler (Wild Bill) Hickok, lawman and scout.

Born in Troy Grove, Ill. on May 27, 1837
Murdered by Jack McCall on Aug. 2, 1876

Wild Bill was shot from the behind while he was playing poker in a Saloon in Dakota Territory. Legend has it that he died with a poker hand consisting of a pair of aces and a pair of eights -- known thereafter as the "Dead man's hand.
