John, Henry (Doc). Holliday

Born: 1853 in Griffin, Georgia
Died: November 8, 1887 in Glenwood Springs, Colorado

 

Doc Holliday was a college educated influential southern dentist. Only a few years into his profession, he was diagnosed with tuberculosis and decided to change climates for medicinal purposes. Out west he had a new career as a gambler, and, by necessity, a gunfighter He drifted his way through the West, and in Dodge City he became a friend with Wyatt Earp in a saloon called Shanessy's in Fort Griffin, Texas, both admiring certain qualities of each other. Wyatt said Doc was "the most skillful gambler, and the nerviest, fastest, deadliest man with a six-gun he ever knew."

Doc.moved around parts of the western frontier and ended up with Earp again in Tombstone. Were he became involved in the famous gunfight at the OK Corral, Tombstone (26 Oct 1881), between the Earp brothers and the Clanton gang.

Doc. Holliday died of tuberculosis a few years later in Glenwood Springs, CO
